Four Eyes Part II

When I was a kid, I used to balk at the fact that my mother's eyesight was so poor that she was considered legally blind. Her poor eyesight was one of the many traits passed down to me (Thanks, Mom! I got your good traits too! :)).

I started wearing glasses in the 4th grade. Glasses were a pain. I couldn't wear sunglasses, swim with clear vision, or play sports as comfortably as I could have with contacts (not that my athletic ability was anything to brag about). I did not like to wear glasses, but my ever-worsening eyesight demanded them until I turned thirteen and finally got contacts. Ever since then, I've associated glasses with my awkward stage.

Exhibit A: 7th Grade Winter Formal
Exhibit B: Mismatch Day at school. I hope.

Every year, my eyesight becomes worse and worse, and last week I discovered that my contact prescription is even stronger than my mom's! Which makes me legally blind too! AHHH!

With this last eye appointment though, I decided to give glasses another shot and buy a pair that I would actually be willing to wear out in public as opposed to the last few minutes before I go to bed in the privacy of my own home. I associated my glasses so much with going to sleep that putting them on would literally make me sleepy. Looking to Miss Pandora (and of course Buddy Holly) for inspiration, I decided to get black frames.

Happy. :)

P.S. Bonnaroo pictures (and mayyyyybe video) to come!

Gimme gimme gimme

On the lookout for a few new sundresses before Bonnaroo next week.

3, 5, and 8 are my favorites, but I still don't think I'll be ready for Tennessee humidity.

Here we go again...

As you may have noticed, I think about and talk about my hair way too much, maybe to the point of obsession. Yes -- definitely to the point of obsession.

Ever since I last cut my hair, I've been wanting to try a pixie cut but I hesitate because I just don't know how it will look on me. Trying to picture it, I'll bobby-pin my hair like crazy but I know it's not the same.

Anyway, I'm going to do it, but now I'm torn about just how short of a pixie cut I want and whether I should dye my hair darker too. Here is my current inspiration. Any suggestions?

Emma Watson

Carey Mulligan

And of course my Mom & Aunt Kelly. :)

That time of year.

It may or may not be time for me to cut my hair...
I saw Dinner for Schmucks (which was awful) and the actress in it had the most adorable haircut. She's the last picture, Stephanie Szostak. I've been thinking about cutting my hair for awhile now and I think it's time to take the plunge. I've found that I look more mature with short hair, so maybe that will be good for my student teaching coming up next week. Now for how short I'll go...

Hair

This weekend my brother is getting married and among all the craziness that is the end of the semester, I've neglected to think much about what I'll do with my unruly mane come Saturday morning. Guess I better start throwing around some ideas.
