9 years and a day

Nine years and five days ago, Tyler asked me if I would be his girlfriend and I told him no -- that I would not start dating him yet because I didn't want to be distracted during finals week. Luckily he wasn't deterred by what a mega-nerd I was.

Thanks for always humoring me, babe.

Alas! Earwax!

Last week was rough. Going back to work after such a busy, fun-filled spring break was almost unbearable, so I've been consoling myself by looking back at pictures and eating Cadbury eggs -- I can't bring myself to actually eat my chocolate frog.

Now back to real life.
But speaking of this post's title, Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans were a cool $11.

Halloween meets Christmas

Aside from eating ungodly amounts of candy corn and discounted chocolate, the only Halloween tradition we partook in this year was pumpkin carving... and this is what we have to show for it.

I present you with Jack the Pumpkin King, glowing hot pink.

I'm lucky that all it takes to cheer me up is a hummingbird.

Awkward Family Photos

I'm seriously considering sending one of these pictures of my siblings and me to awkwardfamilyphotos.com.

Seaworld circa 1997 (click the photo to magnify the awkwardness)

I'm not sure why my baby brother looks so ticked off...
Maybe he wanted to be on the bigger Shamu?
Separation anxiety from my grandma's candy bag?
Was he too short for one of the park's rides?
I guess we'll never know.

Buddy

We were browsing around our netflix last night and ran across The Buddy Holly Story. It had been a really long time since I'd seen it, but I remembered the roller rink scene at the beginning and the Crickets playing after Sam Cooke at the Apollo in Harlem. It's scary to me to think that I'm the same age he was when he died. I still can't believe how much Buddy Holly influenced rock and roll in his too-brief 22 years.

Looking forward to watching The Real Buddy Holly Story that Paul McCartney produced.

Favorite things

The fact that Netflix now has the first three seasons of my all-time
favorite cartoon available for my instant-streaming pleasure,
"modern art" at the SFMOMA,
music from Zumba class,
Shakira - WAKA WAKA - Esto es Africa

and how happy Tyler gets upon receiving a free Dr. Pepper.

Mother's Day

At work this weekend, I would tell moms on their way out to "Have a great Mother's Day" and ended up getting a lot of "You too!"s back. In honor of this day, here are the two best nurserys ever.

Here's to being a mother in the very, VERY distant future.

And happy mother's day, Mama. :) I love you.
