The darnedest things

Today I went to the International School of Arizona (my old work) because it was the last day of the kids' summer camp. They're just as adorable as I remember and the highlight was one of my favorites shouting from across the room,

"I'M SO HAPPY TO SEE HER!!!"

I love kids.

Somewhere That's Green

I went to the Hale Theater in Gilbert last weekend with my friend Kristin and her family to see The Little Shop of Horrors -- what a treat!

I'm glad that I saw the play before I saw the movie. Whenever I go to a musical, I always hate the leads in the show because they never measure up to the role in the movie version. Then I wind up loving the minor characters in the play because I almost never care about them in the movie.

Musicals and I have quite a complicated relationship.

Sleeping habits, EVOO brownies, HP 7

Things I did today:

1. Slept until 10

2. Finished rereading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

3. Ate the brownies I made the other night

For future reference, using extra virgin olive oil instead of vegetable or canola oil makes no difference. Unfortunately, that means that eating three for breakfast will still make you feel sick.

Instead of talking about the myriad of ways that I'm wasting away my summer, let's talk about what I'm doing tomorrow...

SEEING THE FINAL HARRY POTTER MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It might be cliche, but if Harry Potter was all for real and if Time-Turners existed (and weren't subsequently all destroyed during the battle in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix), I would go back in time to when my elementary school librarian asked me to read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone to see if I thought the other kids would think it was any good. Or I would ask Hermione to perform a memory charm on me so that I could reread all of the books like it was the first time.

I guess I'll just have to wait until I can relive the magic with my kids someday.

And P.S., that was not me creatively announcing a pregnancy.

Debbie Reynolds

Debbie Reynolds is such a doll. I saw this movie called Give a Girl a Break years and years ago and I can't find it anywhere. I guess What's My Line? will have to suffice for now.

First of all, I've been waiting all week to post this:

These lyrics are eerily similar -- coincidence? I think yes. But it still amuses me.

Second of all, "you know what today is?" Tyler's birthday!

This is one of my favorite pictures of him as a little kid (besides the one of him on the floor as a baby when the camera angle caused him to ask his parents years later why they trapped him in a hole). It was taken in Rocky Point and the photo timing couldn't be any better.
